ABOUT
The Summer Jazz Banjo Festival is a non-profit musical organization that was founded in 2009 to promote the 4-string banjo in Northern California and to raise funds for the charities of the East Bay Banjo Club (a non-profit organization).
Our 2010 headliners will include Howard Alden, considered one of the best jazz banjoists and guitarists of his generation, Banjo Hall-of-Famer Charlie Tagawa, the excellent talents of Jack Convery and Friends, and the unique banjo stylings of Rob Wright.
Noted local banjo bands will also be performing, including the East Bay Banjo Club, Sacramento Banjo Band, Wineland Banjo Band, San Francisco Banjo Band, and the Peninsula Banjo Band.
There will be unique opportunities for children, including making, playing, and performing with musical instruments. Vendors selling banjo related memorabilia and music will be present, including Banjo Hall-of-Fame luthier Renée Karnes. There will also be a barbecue lunch available, and refreshments including soft drinks, beer and wine will be on sale.
The East Bay Banjo Club is a charitable organization and open to membership to anyone who has an interest in playing the banjo. We meet every Tuesday night at Round Table Pizza on Oak Park Boulevard, Pleasant Hill, from 7:30 to 9:30. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the local charities that the East Bay Banjo Club has supported for many years, including the Wee Care Center, the Las Trampas School, and the Bay Area Crises Nursery.
